How to get your best 1-minute score

Warm up with a 15-second test first. During the real run, look at the text, not your hands, and keep a steady rhythm instead of sprinting at the start. If you make a mistake, keep going - stopping to fix every letter usually costs more speed than the error itself.

What your result means

Under 30 WPM means you are still hunting for keys - the Learn page will fix that fast. 40-60 WPM is solid for office and study work. Above 80 WPM you are faster than most professionals.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the 1-minute test the standard?

Sixty seconds is long enough to measure real typing rhythm but short enough to repeat often, so scores are comparable everywhere.

How is WPM calculated on this test?

Correct characters plus spaces, divided by five, divided by the minutes typed - the standard WPM formula.
